The Marjory Stoneman Douglas swim teams combined for 15 first-place finishes in a strong showing against St. Thomas Aquinas on September 3.
The girls came away with a 96-77 victory, while the boys recorded eight wins despite falling 91-79. The girls started the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay, as Bella Schubow, Nora Kearns, Isla El Chantiry and Zoey Kucuk-Lake finished first. Nikki Harrypersad won the 200-yard freestyle, while Carly Chin earned a pair of individual victories. She took first in the 200-yard individual medley before winning the 500-yard freestyle.
El Chantiry added a win in the 100-yard butterfly. MSD also won the 200-yard freestyle relay behind Harrypersad, El Chantiry, Sofia Zolghadr and Chin before closing the meet with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay from Harrypersad, Schubow, Chin and Kucuk-Lake.
On the boys’ side, Roman Kondrashov and Benjamin Ruytenbeek each won two individual events. Kondrashov took first in the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle, while Ruytenbeek won the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. Joseph Villalobos added a victory in the 100-yard backstroke, while Jason Brunshteyn won the 100-yard breaststroke.
The Eagles also won two freestyle relays. Kondrashov, Hudson Hemenway, Maher Halabi and Ruytenbeek won the 200-yard freestyle relay. Ruytenbeek, Kondrashov, Anthony Severini and Villalobos then finished first in the 400-yard freestyle
