Parkland continues producing incredible wrestlers, three of whom have officially won a state championship.
Marjory Stoneman Douglas wrestler Gaby Caro is a State Champion for the second straight year following her win in the girls division. Caro scored a perfect 19-0 this year, winning a District and Regional Title.
Brothers Michael Mocco and Peter Mocco of Whittier Oaks also won a Regional and State Championship, with Michael winning one for Cardinal Gibbons for the second straight year and Peter securing the first-ever wrestling state title for Coral Springs Charter.
“I’m just so happy right now,” Peter said. “Working so hard and accomplishing a goal feels amazing. “It’s also great to be the 1st State Champion in Coral Springs Charter history. It really means a lot.”
The Eagles also had two wrestlers finish with David Leiva coming in third and Rocco Duygulu splacing sixth, while Coral Springs Charter’s Preston Lindsay qualified for the State Championship and came in eighth while the team finished 12th overall.
