Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through February 26, 2024.
Battery
A Battery was reported on 02/20/2024. The victim said he was purposely sprayed with water from a garden hose as he walked his dog in front of a residence. At the time of the incident, he had an ongoing neighbor dispute with the female resident outside using the hose. The victim wished to pursue prosecution for the Battery, and an adult civil citation was issued to the female for a simple battery.
Lost Property
A victim of Lost Property was reported on 02/22/2024. An adult male reported losing an engagement ring and wedding band valued at approximately $150,000.00.
Information
Information was reported on 02/22/2024. A Pitbull was hit by a passing vehicle. The animal was transported to the Coral Springs Animal Hospital, where the animal was euthanized due to injuries.
Information was reported on 02/23/2024. An adult male reported that a contractor he hired in November 2023 has been driving around Parkland with a sign on his vehicle, accusing him of being a liar. They have been having a dispute over payment since the contractor finished the job. The subject has also sent the reporting person messages that they would see him, his wife, and kids soon.
Theft
Publix was the victim of Theft – Retail / Shoplifting, which was reported on 02/23/2024. The total loss is estimated at $1392.79. A female subject entered Publix, selected leggings & baby formula, placed items into an empty baby stroller, and exited without payment.
Burglary
Ryan Homes was a victim of Burglary Building/Structure, which was reported on 02/23/2024. The total loss is estimated at $900. An unknown person or persons removed a microwave and cabinets. There was no forced entry; the home was still under construction.
Fraud
A victim of Fraud – All Other was reported on 02/22/2024. An adult male reported that he invested money with a former coworker. When the victim attempted to get his money back, the suspect refused to give him any money back. The total loss is estimated at $26,000.
