The Parkland Rangers 10 to 12-year-old cheerleaders are now the reigning Southeast Regional Champions.
After taking first place last weekend in Kissimmee in both Show and Sideline Performance Cheer, they will advance to the National Championships in Orlando on Wednesday.
The Parkland Rangers competitive cheerleaders attract students from all over the area. They currently have five squads: Mitey-Mite, Junior Pee Wee, Pee Wee, Junior Varsity, and Varsity. Tiny Mite, Mitey-Mite, Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee, and Varsity.
Coaching together for six years, Jaymie Seward and Kerry Fleck train the team of 26 fourth through seventh-grade girls, the majority of which reside in Coral Springs and Parkland.
Seward, whose daughter Brooke, 10, has been cheering since kindergarten, said the blood, sweat, and tears the team put in over the last seven months finally paid off.

The girls on the Parkland Rangers Pee-wee team have been practicing two to three days a week and cheering for the football team on Saturdays. They beat more than a dozen teams at the regional competition to win first place in both categories.
“The girls were so excited to win- they just knew they nailed it,” said Seward, who’s hoping they return to take both national titles on Wednesday.
