This season, The Broward Center for the Performing Arts and The Parker roll out the red carpet for young theater enthusiasts with two captivating series – the JM Family Enterprises Smart Stage Matinee Series and the Saturday Family Fun Series.
Designed to bolster classroom learning and open the world of live performing arts, these series showcase enthralling performances ranging from whimsical fairy tales to engaging musicals. The Smart Stage Matinee Series aligns with state standards, catering to both traditional and home-schooled students, with free study guides provided on the Broward Center’s website.
The line-up features:
- November 3: Numbers Don’t Lie – A magical journey revealing the importance of math in everyday life, tailored for grades 2-4.
- November 8 & 11: The Tales of Custard the Dragon – A heartwarming story highlighting courage and love, commissioned by the John F. Kennedy Center in DC, designed for Kindergarten and first-grade attendees.
- December 2: A Christmas Carol – A classic holiday tale brought to life by The Performance Project students and their mentors.
- December 15: The Nutcracker – Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida’s rendition of the cherished ballet directed by Vladimir Issaev at The Parker.
- January 12 & 13: The Frog Prince – An enchanting fairy tale with a potent message about equality and appearances.
- April 19 & 20: Junie B. Jones – Join Junie in her first-grade adventures based on Barbara Park’s beloved series.
