The Marjory Stoneman Douglas girls’ volleyball team earned the second seed in the upcoming District Tournament, which starts on Monday, October 14.
The Eagles went 7-8 this year and will play J.P. Taravella High School in their opening match. The Trojans went 6-9 this year and will be seeded fifth after beating Dillard, Blanche Ely, Plantation, Stranahan, Coconut Creek, and Miramar High School.
MSD has been led this year by senior Addison Walker, who has a team-high 134 kills. Isabella Cox ranks second with 97 kills and leads MSD in aces with 22 and digs with 106. Avivah Henderson has 24 blocks in 41 sets this year, and Elle Navqi and Lily Ledbetter each have over 100 assists.
MSD won a Preseason Tournament earlier this year and defeated West Broward, Pompano Beach, Coral Springs Charter, Cooper City, Charles W. Flanagan, and Northeast High School.
If they win their first match, they will play other Piper or Spanish River Community High School in the semifinals, while Boca Raton, Monarch, and Coral Glades loom on the other side of the bracket.
