The Marjory Stoneman Douglas girls volleyball team closed out their week with an impressive five-set win over Coral Springs Charter on September 13.
The Eagles won 17-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25- 27, 15- 13 for their sixth win of the year. Addison Walker currently leads the team with over 100 kills this season. Isabella Cox, Aviyah Henderson, and Alyssa James are all in double figures. Walker also leads the team in aces, while Henderson leads the team in blocks, and Cox has the most digs. Elle Naqvi has 74 assists this year.
The Eagles previously had a win over Pompano Beach High School in their first game of the week but lost to Cypress Bay and West Broward High School. MSD, who started the season with a win in a Preseason Tournament, is 6-7 this year. They also had wins over NSU University, Everglades, and West Broward High School.
Next, the Eagles will play Cooper City High School on Wednesday, September 25, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, at 5:30 p.m. The Cowboys are 5-6 this year and beat MSD in four sets last year.
The Panthers though won two matches this past week and are now 9-4 this year and are led by Samantha McMillan in kills. Isabella Nelson has the most aces, while Jade Keen has shined with her blocks. Kailey Michaelson, McMillan, and Allyson Gates have over 200 digs, with Olive Greco and Nillson combined for over 300 assists.
Next, CSC will also play Cooper City High School on Tuesday, September 24, at 6 p.m.
