The City of Parkland will honor veterans and their families with a special Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday, November 11, 2024.
The event will be held at Veterans Park at 11:00 a.m. so that the community can recognize the sacrifices and service of military personnel who have dedicated their lives to protecting our country.
This year’s ceremony features two distinguished keynote speakers who served in the U.S. military honorably.
Major Sherrie Sucher, a retired U.S. Air Force Medical Service Corps officer, brings over 20 years of active-duty experience. Major Sucher held several key positions throughout her service, including roles at the Pentagon and as a Master Instructor at the School of Healthcare Sciences.
After retiring in 1996, she settled in Parkland, where she has continued to make an impact through community service, including founding a local Girl Scout troop. Recently, she welcomed her first grandchild, a new Parkland resident, into the world.
Private First Class Bernardo Saenz, who served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1997 to 2006, will join Major Sucher. Saenz, an executive director and community mentor, uses his extensive military and corporate leadership experience to inspire others and has dedicated over eight years to mentoring local youth.
The Parkland Veterans Day Ceremony is open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to come together to pay tribute to those who have served.
