Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Parkland through September 9. Names of those not arrested have been redacted.
Property damage
5200 block of NW 80 Terrace
On September 3, a deputy was dispatched to the address in reference to a report of property damage. Upon arrival, the deputy immediately noticed that a large tree fell over due to inclement weather which broke a fence as well as an FPL pole.
On September 3, a separate report of property damage occurred at the same location. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with a fireman who advised when he was pulling forward the fire engine, he struck a mailbox at the location.
6500 block of NW 104 Terrace
On September 5, a deputy met with the male resident who stated the postal worker may have damaged his mailbox. The mailbox ($250) appeared to have fallen off the post.
Auto theft
10900 block of NW 62nd Court
On September 4, an unknown suspect(s) stole the victim’s white Audi sport utility vehicle. The keys had been left in the unlocked vehicle. Note: There were also several events reported a few blocks away.
Burglary Conveyance
10600 block of NW 62 Court
On September 4, a deputy responded to the address in reference to a burglary conveyance. Upon arrival, he met with the victim who advised he went to leave for work in his Lexus and noticed it had been rummaged through and items were stolen.
6575 NW 76 Drive – Terramar Park
On September 4, a deputy responded in reference to a vehicle burglary. A red Jaguar was broken into by smashing the passenger side window and taking an iPad and Yeti cooler that was on the front passenger seat. Approximate loss of $580.
5800 block of NW 71 Terrace – Pinetree Estates
Sometime between 11 p.m. on September 4 and 4 a.m. on September 5, an unknown suspect(s) unlawfully entered the victim’s unlocked Chevy Tahoe and ransacked the glove compartment and center console.
5700 block of NW 71 Terrace
On September 5, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle. No items were reported stolen and video surveillance was captured and submitted to evidence.
6200 block of NW 71 Terrace
On September 5, a deputy responded to the address, in reference to a delayed burglary conveyance report. A Dell laptop computer was removed from the vehicle due to an unlocked door.
Information
7000 block of NW 67 Court
On September 4, two, eight-foot bedroom windows were shattered. The cause was unknown at the time. A possible thermal stress fracture was suggested.
9245 Ranch Road – Barkland Dog Park
On September 5, contact was made with the person reporting who advised that her dog was attacked by another dog at the dog park. Contact was made with the other party involved who stated that his dog was attacked by hers and that the dogs were actually playing, not fighting. No injuries were observed on the animals.
10300 bl0ck of Cameilla Street Parkland Golf & Country Club
On September 5, a deputy responded to a call regarding harassing text messages. The reporting party wanted to document that she received several text messages. A previous incident was reported to Coral Springs PD. The text messages shown did not make any threats toward her or her family.
6399 University Dr/Holmberg Rd
On September 9, an injured cat, who was hit by a vehicle was transported to the Coral Springs Animal Hospital.
7300 block of North SR 7
On September 7, the complainant wanted to report that while having dinner with his family, a subject made a gesture towards him that he and his wife found to be threatening. The subject used his index, middle finger and thumb, pointing at the complainant. The complainant stated that he thought it resembled a gun. No verbal threats or actual weapons were involved.
Drugs/Narcotics offenses
6989 North SR 7/Hillsboro Blvd
On September 6, the deputy observed a silver Chevy TrailBlazer traveling east-bound on NW 74 Place towards State Road 7. The vehicle made an improper right-hand turn, cutting over three lanes of traffic into the far left-hand lane. The deputy conducted a traffic stop at SR7 and Hillsboro Blvd and made contact with the driver of the vehicle, who was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
Battery/ touch or strike
On September 8, the victim came to the Parkland District Office and reported that on two occasions, her husband had committed a simple battery on her. Photos and a taped statement were taken.
Schools
5901 Pine Island Road – Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School
On September 4, a deputy met with a teacher in reference to a non-criminal email.
11000 Holmberg Road – Westglades Middle School
On September 5, an information report was completed regarding an incident that occurred at the school’s east parking lot.
11000 Holmberg Road – Westglades Middle School
On September 9, a delayed report was taken on a lost black colored Lenovo Yoga 260 laptop computer, with the words “Safety, music, art athletics renovation technology” and the Broward County Public School logo etched on the laptop‘s screen cover. The reporting person was last seen on 9/5 video surveillance, as having walked out of the school with it under her left arm, but she could not determine where she may have lost it.
