The Carbonell Awards is accepting applications from college-bound high school seniors for its 2026 Jack Zink Memorial Student Scholarships, offering $3,000 awards to students pursuing degrees in theater or journalism.
Three students—one each from Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties—will be selected to receive a combined scholarship that includes a $2,000 Jack Zink Memorial Scholarship and a $1,000 Hap Erstein Memorial Scholarship. The application deadline is Monday, Feb. 9, 2026.
Applicants must be graduating seniors with a minimum 2.5 GPA, reside in one of the three counties, and be nominated by a school or theater mentor. Self-nominations and parent nominations are not permitted. Selected students must be accepted into a college program in theater or journalism.
Finalists will participate in interviews or auditions on March 21 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, and the scholarship recipients will be honored at the 49th annual Carbonell Awards Celebration on Nov. 16, 2026.
Since 1978, the Carbonell Awards have awarded more than $140,000 in scholarships to South Florida students. Applications and full guidelines are available at carbonellawards.org.
