Surrounded by loved ones, champagne toasts, and the sound of live music, David Lipsit marked his 100th birthday in style at Allegro Senior Living in Parkland.
The event also featured appetizers, cake, and live music by singer Barbara Evans. State Representative Christine Hunchofsky was in attendance.
After a long life, Lipsit remains upbeat. “I put one foot in front of the other every day. During my life, I moved on,” he said.
Lipsit was born in New York City in 1924 and enjoyed a life of accomplishments. He served in the U.S. Army for three years and then had a 30-year career in the Catskills as an auctioneer. At 40, he became involved in stock investments. He was married to his late wife Dorothy, and they had two sons, Edwin and Howard. According to Omar Urbay, lifestyle director at Allegro, he lives a fulfilling life.
Lipsit is popular among the residents and loves to teach people about the stock market. He also enjoys playing poker and spending time with fellow residents, according to Urbay.
“Everyone here loves David, and we had an amazing celebration for him with all his friends,” he said.
