The Parkland Library is set to illuminate young minds with an interactive science event as part of its “Color Our World” summer theme. On Wednesday, July 9, at 4:00 p.m., award-winning astronomy educator Mr. Kyle Jeter will lead a hands-on program exploring how astronomers decode starlight to unlock the secrets of the universe.
Held in the Main Library Meeting Room, the event is open to individuals aged eight and above and will introduce participants to the colorful science of spectroscopy. Attendees will each receive a simple diffraction grating to take home and use during the activity, which includes coloring the spectral lines of various chemical elements.
The highlight of the program? A mystery challenge in which guests must decode the light of an unknown element, putting their new knowledge to the test in a fun, scientific whodunit.
This event is free, but a Parkland Library card is required for registration. Spots are limited, so early sign-up is encouraged.
