The Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Parkland responded to various incidents between March 17 and March 23, 2026.
Incidents
Grand Theft – Forklift Stolen
A rented forklift valued at approximately $24,000 was stolen from the northeast corner of BJ’s Wholesale Club at 5901 W. Hillsboro Blvd. The equipment had been left unsecured with a key hidden under the seat, and its tracking device had been disabled prior to the theft. No suspects were identified.
Fraud – $25,000 Investment Scam
A victim reported transferring $25,000 for an investment but was later defrauded after communication with the suspect stopped and no refund was received.
Aggravated Assault – Machete and Vehicle Used
A verbal dispute between a man and his former boss escalated when the suspect allegedly retrieved a machete and later attempted to strike the victim with a vehicle. The suspect was arrested and transported to jail.
Criminal Mischief – Park Bathroom Vandalized
A group of juveniles vandalized a men’s bathroom in the pool area at Parkland Reserve after hours. Surveillance footage captured the group entering and exiting the area.
Threats Reported via Text Messages
A woman reported receiving threatening text messages and provided screenshots to deputies.
Suspicious Harassment and “Voodoo Hex” Threat
A resident reported receiving a call from a man claiming to be involved in a previous hit-and-run crash, who allegedly threatened to place a “voodoo hex” on her. Following the call, the victim began receiving dozens of suspicious text messages daily.
Reckless Driving Complaint Involving Juvenile
A juvenile driver was reported for speeding through a neighborhood and nearly striking a pedestrian walking her dog. Deputies contacted the juvenile’s parents.
Suspicious Sauna Smoke Incident
Deputies responded to reports of smoke in a sauna area. Although juveniles were seen leaving the area, no evidence of wrongdoing was found.
Domestic Disturbances (Non-Criminal)
Multiple domestic-related incidents were reported during the week, all involving verbal disputes with no physical violence or arrests.
Baker Act Incident
An individual was taken into custody under the Baker Act following concerning text messages and transported to a behavioral health facility.
Found Property – Gun Recovered from Rental Vehicle
Deputies recovered a Ruger handgun, magazine, and ammunition hidden under the hood of a rental vehicle. The firearm was not reported stolen and was placed into safekeeping.
Death Investigation
An adult woman was found unresponsive in a residential garage. She was transported to Broward Health Coral Springs, where she was pronounced deceased. Homicide detectives are investigating.
Arrest
Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
John Michael Camiolo was arrested on March 19 in connection with an aggravated assault involving a deadly weapon.
