Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Tuesday was ranked the sixth best public high school in Broward County – and the 81st best in the country – in the 2025/26 edition of U.S. News and World Report’s Best High Schools rankings.
Other local schools also had strong finishes, according to the magazine:
– Coral Glades High School in Coral Springs was ranked the 14th best public high school in Broward, the 245th best in Florida, and 4,283rd nationally.
– Coral Springs Charter School ranked 18th in Broward, 199th in Florida, and 3,415th nationally.
– Coral Springs High School ranked 28th in Broward, 348th in Florida, and 6,550th nationally.
– J.P. Taravella High School ranked 33rd in Broward, 393rd in Florida, and 8,132nd nationally.
According to the magazine, there are 68 public high schools in Broward.
Topping the list for Broward County Public Schools were Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy (ranked 4th in Florida and 56th nationally) and Pompano Beach High School (ranked 21st in Florida and 200th nationally.
Rounding out the top five ranked high schools across BCPS were William T. McFatter Technical High School, Cypress Bay High School, and Atlantic Technical High School, according to BCPS.
U.S. News & World Report evaluated more than 24,000 public high schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Nearly 18,000 high schools were ranked based on six key factors: college readiness, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, breadth of college curriculum, performance of underserved students, and graduation rates.
“We are incredibly proud that our high schools are consistently recognized for being among the best in the nation,” BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn said in a prepared statement. “These rankings reflect the hard work of our students; the dedication of our teachers, administrators and staff; and the support from our families and the community. They also highlight the world-class education our students receive to prepare them for success in college and careers.”
