In a season greatly affected by the weather, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas golf teams were finally able to play a full match.
The boys’ team began the year with a match on September 11, which featured Josh Lieberman shooting an even par 35. He finished in second place individually against St. Thomas Aquinas, while Diego Femenias recorded a 38, and Josh Anderson shot a 39. Luke Munson and Matthew Freedland both finished tied for ninth with a 44, while Jack Barkin also played and shot a 49.
They would then go on to play St. Thomas Aquinas High School again, with Lieberman leading the Eagles with a 38. He placed second again with Ferenias and Anderson each shooting 44s and finishing tied for sixth. Freeland was one shot back while Finnegan placed 10th, ahead of Barkin, who came in 12th.
The girls’ team played Pompano Beach High School and had Sophia Alcala-Marks place first individually. She shot a 43, 10 shots of Ella Thompson, who came in third. Aurora Amos finished fifth, and Hannah Dressler came in sixth.
Despite having matches cancelled, these two teams will continue to play this week and will gear up for the postseason, which will feature Districts, Regionals, and potentially the State Championship.
