The city’s annual Parkland Dash is set for Sunday, Oct. 12, at Pine Trails Park, offering a day of fitness and community while honoring the legacy of a beloved teacher.
Participants can choose from a 5K run, a 5-mile run, or a 1-mile walk/run. The event begins at 7 a.m. and is open to runners and walkers of all ages. Registration is available through RunSignup until Oct. 11 at 11:59 p.m.
All registered participants will receive a T-shirt and finisher medal while supplies last. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in both the 5K and 5-mile races.
This year’s Dash will benefit RUN 4 BEIGEL, an initiative of the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund. Beigel, a teacher and cross-country coach at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, was killed protecting students during the 2018 shooting at the school. The fund provides scholarships for at-risk and underserved children affected by gun violence, giving them access to summer sleep-away camps and supportive programs.
Sponsorship opportunities are available, and the city encourages early registration as space is limited. For more information, including sponsorship details and ADA accommodation requests, visit cityofparkland.org/843/Parkland-Dash.
