The Marjory Stoneman Douglas Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Battalion girls team won the State Championship for the first time in school history  at Hudson High School on December 2.
This also marks the third straight year MSD has won a State Championship. They competed in events including rope bridge, cross country rescue, obstacle course, kettle bell run, and a 5k run. Their teams include Riley Anders, Rebecca Bridger, Grace MacKenzie, Addison Miller, Jessica Rice, Ava Selby, Isis Smith, Myah Smith, Shani Staeinweis, Lilly Velasco, Taylor Weese, and Sophia Zhang.
“To me, winning meant that everything was worth it, the non-stop training since May, the stress, pushing my body to and past its limits, helping the girls get through their mental block to achieve their physical goals,” Weese said. “Winning showed that my female team succeeded in pushing themselves to their physical and mental limit better than any other teams there.”
