The Marjory Stoneman Douglas soccer teams have competed in four games this year and each hold the same record.
The boys’ team is currently 2-1-1 this season. After beating Chamidnade Madonna High School in their first game, the Eagles lost 2-0 against Cypress Bay High School. However, they responded with a 3-1 win over West Broward High School on Friday, led by goals from Matthew Rodriguez, Noah Cianciulli, and Zidane Simmonds.
Aquiles Yiribi recorded two assists, while Anthony Carnuccio also scored once. Eli Harwin made a save in net for the victory. MSD then played to a 0-0 draw against Pembroke Pines Charter on Monday and will have the rest of the month off before their next game against Nova High School on December 1 at 4 p.m. The Titans are 0-4-1 this year after winning four games a season ago.
The girls’ soccer team is also 2-1-1 after beating Coral Springs Charter in their first game. The Eagles lost 3-1 against Cypress Bay High School despite Madysen Filsaime scoring off an assist from Audrey Haltiwanger.
MSD then dominated South Broward High School on Friday, winning 8-0. Breanna Gordon led the way with three goals and two assists, while Filsaime, Alexa Jourdan, Patty Leiva, Jackie Destefano, and Emily Rodriguez all scored. Nadia Tomlinson, Filsaime, Jourdan, and Emily Rodriguez all had assists with Sabrina Cermech recording a shutout in net.
The Eagles then tied Pembroke Pines Charter 1-1 on Monday, with Halitwanger scoring off a pass from Rodriguez. Next, MSD will play Nova High School on December 1 at 6 p.m. The Titans are 0-4 this year and have been outscored 27-0.
