Six DECA teams from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School took center stage Tuesday night, competing in the school’s Shark Tank event.
Held in partnership with the Parkland Chamber of Commerce, the competition in the MSD auditorium mirrored the popular television show, with student teams pitching their business ideas to a panel of judges, hoping to secure a fictional investment.
The judges, made up of business professionals, evaluated the presentations based on key criteria, including problem identification, proposed solutions, target market, marketing strategy, and overall feasibility of the venture. The event showcased the entrepreneurial talents of MSD’s DECA students and provided them with valuable experience in public speaking, critical thinking, and business strategy.
DECA advisors are Sharon Cutler, Lisa Webster, Mitch Albert, and Eric Garner.
“We are so proud of our incredible students who brought our Shark Tank project to life, from the dedicated leaders who planned and executed the event to the bold and talented students who stepped up to pitch their innovative ideas,” said Cutler, adding that they were grateful to the Parkland Chamber of Commerce for their support.
The Parkland Chamber of Commerce rewarded the winning teams with Amazon gift cards, recognizing their outstanding business acumen and presentation skills.
