Michael Camiolo {BSO}
A Parkland man is facing aggravated assault charges after deputies say he threatened a former employee with a machete and then attempted to run him over with a van during a violent dispute.
According to a Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, John Michael Camiolo, 46, was arrested on March 19 following an altercation that took place near Northwest 70th Court.
According to investigators, deputies received a 911 call claiming Camiolo and a former employee. The victim told authorities that Camiolo drove up close to his parked vehicle, pointed a flashlight in his face, and began hurling insults, before eventually, the men pushed each other.
During the altercation, a witness reported seeing Camiolo grab a machete out of his vehicle and approach the victim in an aggressive manner. Witnesses told deputies he then got back into his van, but as the victim moved around the vehicle, he allegedly accelerated forward, forcing the victim to jump out of the way to avoid being struck.
Camiolo fled the scene before deputies arrived, but later showed up at a district office, where he was taken into custody. He was booked into the Broward County Main Jail.
