The Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Parkland responded to various incidents between February 18 and February 24, 2025. Below is a detailed account of the incidents and arrests handled by local law enforcement.
Recovered Auto
Feb. 18 – Deputies recovered a stolen 2015 Honda Accord at Wawa, 7705 N. State Road 7. The vehicle was processed, and four latent prints were obtained.
Gun Buyback Program
Feb. 18 – A resident turned in two firearms at the BSO District Station, 6650 University Dr., as part of the BSO Gun Buyback program.
Property Damage
Feb. 19 – A deputy conducting a home watch in Parkland discovered a broken garage door handle. There were no suspects or vehicles involved.
Harassment Report
Feb. 19 – A woman reported being harassed by an older man whom she signed up for preventative healthcare. He allegedly made multiple phone calls, attempted to contact her at Publix, and sent a handwritten letter to her office.
Missing Person Located
Feb. 19 – An autistic adult was found walking in the area and safely returned home to his father.
Gun Buyback Program
Feb. 19 – Two additional firearms were turned in as part of the BSO Gun Buyback program.
Threat Assessment
Feb. 20 – Authorities followed up on a previous case and determined four Broward School Board Behavioral Threat Assessments needed completion.
Drug Complaint
Feb. 20 – A witness reported a white male selling marijuana and vape pens from the trunk of his vehicle. The subject was not located upon the deputies’ arrival.
Lost Property
Feb. 21 – A resident reported losing her Florida driver’s license while visiting a Parkland park on Jan. 26.
Neighbor Dispute
Feb. 21 – A verbal dispute between neighbors over a dog altercation led to one person being transported to the hospital for precautionary measures. No crime occurred, and neither dog was injured.
Threats/Intimidation
Feb. 22 – A resident received a threatening text from an unknown number after canceling a Turo transaction due to the customer’s rude behavior.
Baker Act
Feb. 22 – An 18-year-old female with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia was transported to Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center after destroying her bedroom. She was reportedly off her medication.
Animal Bite
Feb. 23 – A resident was bitten on the knee by an unknown dog. The homeowner was not present upon the deputies’ arrival, and an animal bite form was completed.
Arrests
Robbery by Sudden Snatching
Feb. 19 – Joseph Bernard Collins, 34, was arrested on a felony charge of robbery by sudden snatching without a firearm or weapon.
