This is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through March 4, 2024, compiled through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents.
Property Damage
A victim of Property Damage was reported on 02/27/2024. An adult female reported her green mailbox was damaged. The total loss is estimated at $500.
Bomb Threat
The School Board Of Broward County was the victim of a Bomb Threat that was reported on 02/28/2024 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High on Pine Island Road. The school went on a secure protocol and evacuated all students and staff to the football stadium. A Command post was set up on Holmberg Road, just east of Pine Island Road. A North Tactical Alert Protocol alert was utilized. BSO Bomb Squad K9s and Ft. Lauderdale Bomb Squad K9s arrived and conducted a common area sweep of the campus. Nothing suspicious was located, and students and staff were then allowed back to classrooms.
Information
Information was reported on 02/28/2024. An adult female reported that her ex-husband changed the locks on their residence. They are amid court proceedings for ownership of the home. The ex-husband did not commit a crime.
Information was reported on 02/29/2024. The reporter’s wife hired a plumber; they got into a verbal dispute after the reporter and wife refused to pay for the work rendered. The reporter alleged that the plumber threatened both him and his wife by saying you’re going to regret this.
Information was reported on 03/01/2024. This case surrounds a divorce settlement wherein one-half was supposed to have received control over a business and all its assets. To that end, the party was denied access to the business and its associated assets for the past five months and required a police report to begin legal proceedings.
Criminal Mischief
On 03/02/2024, the City Of Parkland was the victim of Criminal Mischief on Holmberg Road. An unknown suspect(s) graffitied the exterior walls of Covered Bridge Park.
