This is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through April 1, 2024, compiled through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents.
Information
A resident in The Landings on NW 58 Court reported on 03/26/2024 that a kayaker got water into his kayak, causing it to sink partially. The individual was unable to get the water out and was stuck on a rock ledge. The individual was not in distress, but due to his location and equipment malfunctioning, BSO Marine Patrol assisted with a boat and got the kayaker back on the shore.
On Pine Island Road on 03/26/2024, deputies received a call from an FBI agent about internet threats at MSD. Patrol deputies were dispatched, checked the school, and found all was clear.
On 03/30/2024 a juvenile called his father, stating a man in the library was acting strange and was worried that the subject was going to harm others. Deputies made contact with the library staff, who advised that a homeless subject was in the library, was not causing any problems, but then left the area on a bike. The juvenile was picked up by his father.
Burglary
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 03/27/2024. The total estimated loss was $14,200. An adult male reported that his Ford van was entered by prying the front window, causing it to shatter, and construction tools were stolen from the rear of the vehicle.
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 03/28/2024. The total estimated loss was $300. The victim left the vehicle unlocked and went inside Starbucks. The suspect removed a canvas bag from the front passenger seat of the vehicle. The bag contained a laptop, credit, and debit cards, and a driver’s license.
Battery
A victim of Battery was reported on 03/30/2024. A physical altercation occurred between two residents at the community clubhouse during a HOA meeting. The victim advised that she did not want to press charges.
Property Damage
A victim of Property Damage on Parkside Drive/Holmberg Road was reported on 04/01/2024. The reporting person observed and semi-truck navigating the circle on Parkside Drive and Holmberg Road. The reporting person allegedly observed the semi-truck hitting the yield sign and leaving the area.
