Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of incidents that occurred in Parkland through May 7.
Auto Theft
5851 Holmberg Rd. Bell Parkland
On May 6, the victim reported that an unknown suspect stole her unlocked 2018 red Volkswagen Jetta 4 dr from the parking space in front of her apartment building. The victim was in possession of one key fob and the other was lost approximately two weeks ago during her move to the apartment. An Auto Theft Affidavit was signed and the vehicle was entered into BSO Teletype.
Burglary Conveyance
6818 Nw 117th Ave. Heron Bay
On May 1, Victim’s vehicle was burglarized overnight.
Fraud
5251 Nw 80th Ter. Whispering Woods.
On April 25, the victim reported to the Broward Sheriff’s Office to advise his personal information and IBM Credit Union information had been compromised.
Information
11232 Nw 68th Pl. Parkland Isles
On April 30, reporting person advised that on April 29, she was contacted by phone by an unknown person claiming to be from the Chinese Consulate in Washington DC who advised her she was the subject of criminal investigation in China and requested her personal information and bank account balances.
5901 Pine Island Rd. Marjory Stoneman Douglas
On April 29, students were involved in a mutual altercation during the second lunch period. The students were separated quickly and not injured. The administration staff at the school advised that appropriate disciplinary procedures would be followed according to the actions of those involved.
10165 Emerson St. Parkland Golf & Country Club
A complainant came to the Parkland district office to report a possible fraud between April 29 and April 30. They met with him and he said he received a check in the mail for $2,850. When he took the check to his bank, they told him the check was fake.
6041 Nw 60th Ct.
On May 1, BSO was dispatched in reference to an information report. Upon their arrival they met with the mother who advised someone hacked her daughter’s Instagram account.
7857 University Dr. Cleveland Clinic
On May 2, Parkland, BSO was contacted in reference to unknown subject calling the business multiple times throughout the day harassing the business with assorted non-medical related questions.
6385 Nw 77th Pl. Mill Run
On May 4, BSO responded in reference to an occupied burglary. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with owner who stated she heard someone in the house. They checked the exterior and the interior of the home. There were no signs of forced entry and no one other than the resident inside the home.
10725 Estuary Dr. Cascata
On May 6, caller advised of a large bone on the shore of the lake behind the residence under construction. A homicide detective was contacted and a to scale photo was forwarded to the medical examiner’s office. The office determined the bone was the remains of a large animal. The bone was placed in a paper bag and disposed of.
7167 Nw 67th Way. Ternbridge
On May 6, BSO made contact with owner who advised an unknown male was making threats. A male subject claiming to be the father of the driver in the other vehicle sent a text message with the victim’s address stating “I will be looking for you”.
Lost Property
9751 South Miralago Way. Miralago
A resident called the Broward Sheriff’s Office Parkland District to report that she lost her Florida’s Driver’s License between May 1 and May 6,
Assist Other Agency
11000 Holmberg Rd
On May 1, a medical call went in for a teacher having problems breathing due to an allergic reaction. Coral Springs Fire Rescue responded.
Theft-all other
10600 Nw 66th Dr. Fox Ridge Community
On May 1, the reporting person advised of a theft of irrigation timer between March 23 and April 16. The timer belonged to the Fox Ridge development and was removed from median sometime between those dates. Value of loss $220.
9802 Nw 58 Court,
On May 6, victim responded to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Parkland District to report his cellphone stolen.
