Families can put their detective skills to the test this summer as the City of Parkland brings back its interactive “Clues in the Park” scavenger hunt.
The free community activity begins Tuesday, July 7, and encourages residents to explore city parks while solving a series of weekly riddles designed to reveal “The Power of Parks and Recreation.”
Each week, participants will receive a new rhyming clue directing them to a different Parkland park. Once there, explorers must locate a clue board and solve the posted riddle. Every correct answer uncovers one of four special “powers” that parks bring to the community.
The first clue reads:
“Freedom is your first big clue,
This park’s name will help guide you.
Swings and laughter fill the air,
Your first power is waiting there!”
The city will release a total of four clues throughout the month. Participants should visit the correct park, find the posted question, and email their answers to cluesinthepark@cityofparkland.org.
City officials said clues and question boards will remain in the parks throughout the month, allowing residents to join the adventure at any time, even if they miss the first week’s challenge.
Additional details about giveaways and prizes will be announced as the event continues.
Weekly clues will be posted on the City of Parkland’s website. Organizers encourage participants of all ages to get outside, explore local parks and, most importantly, have fun.
