3 Baseball Players From Parkland Await MLB Draft Weekend 6

South Florida will once again be well represented when the 2026 MLB Draft begins this weekend, with three local standouts hoping to hear their names called after outstanding high school and collegiate careers.

Leading the group is Marjory Stoneman Douglas graduate Gio Rojas, who enters the draft as MLB Pipeline’s No. 8 overall prospect and the No. 1 high school pitching prospect in the 2026 class.

Rojas capped off a spectacular high school career by throwing 6 2/3 shutout innings against Venice High School in the FHSAA State Championship Game, helping the Eagles capture another state title. He was recently named an All-American and the 2026 Pitcher of the Year after finishing his senior season with an 11-1 record, a 0.58 ERA, and 124 strikeouts in 72 2/3 innings.

During his three-year varsity career, Rojas compiled a remarkable 28-1 record while helping Marjory Stoneman Douglas win three consecutive state championships and the 2025 national championship. He is committed to the University of Miami if he chooses not to begin his professional career immediately.

Another former Eagle expected to be selected is Rylan Lujo, a 2024 graduate of Marjory Stoneman Douglas who enters draft weekend ranked No. 190 on MLB Pipeline’s prospect list. Lujo recently participated in the MLB Draft Combine in Phoenix.

Lujo was a member of four state championship teams during his high school career and helped the Eagles capture three national championships. He finished his prep career batting .407 with 10 home runs and 81 RBIs.

He began his collegiate career at the University of Dayton, where he hit .361 with nine home runs and 56 RBIs before transferring to the University of Georgia. During the 2026 season, Lujo batted .357 with 14 home runs, 16 doubles, and 49 RBIs in 60 games, helping lead the Bulldogs to an SEC championship and a tie for third place at the College World Series.

North Broward Prep right-hander Jack Rostock has also emerged as a potential early-round selection following a standout senior campaign.

Rostock finished the season 9-3 with a 2.23 ERA while facing one of South Florida’s toughest schedules. He saved two of his best performances for the postseason, tossing complete-game shutouts against Calvary Christian Academy in the regional final and South Sumter in the state semifinals.

Earlier in the season, Rostock matched up against Rojas in one of South Florida’s premier pitching duels. The only run of the game was unearned as Marjory Stoneman Douglas edged North Broward Prep 1-0.

Represented by Roger Tomas of Roc Nation Sports—the same agency that represents former Stoneman Douglas stars Coby Mayo and Jesús Luzardo—Rostock continued to boost his draft stock throughout the showcase circuit. He impressed scouts at both the Diamond Club and East Coast Pro events while also competing in the FACA All-Star Game in DeLand, where numerous MLB scouts were in attendance. Rostock has worked out for several MLB organizations this summer and reached a personal-best 95 mph during one of those workouts.

Currently taking summer classes at the University of Alabama after signing with the Crimson Tide, Rostock was previously committed to NC State before changing his commitment following a coaching change. He plans to return home to be with his family during MLB Draft weekend as he awaits one of the biggest moments of his baseball career.
