The Parkland Redhawks Lacrosse program announced a change for the 2025–2026 season, partnering with the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) to introduce the fast-paced, Olympic-style “Lacrosse 6’s” format to South Florida.
In a unanimous decision, the Redhawks Board voted to transition all boys’ and girls’ divisions to the 6-on-6 format and move to an in-house model, which will host all practices and games locally within the City of Parkland starting in 2026
“This alliance with the PLL brings the future of lacrosse to Parkland,” President of the Parkland Redhawks Board Lauren Alexander said. “Lacrosse 6’s is faster, more exciting, and gives every child more opportunity to touch the ball, play hard, and have fun. We’re thrilled to lead the way for our region.”
Lacrosse 6’s is the official Olympic version of the sport and is designed for speed, inclusivity, and nonstop action. Played on a smaller field with fewer players, it emphasizes agility, creativity, and skill development, ensuring that every player stays involved regardless of experience level.
With the new in-house structure, families will enjoy shorter, local commitments and a true community sports experience featuring weeknight games, standings, playoffs, and a championship, similar to other popular Parkland youth programs.
To welcome new players, the Redhawks will host three free clinics for boys and girls ages 5–14. No equipment or experience is required. November 24 – 6:00 PM, December 14, and January 11 – 5:00 PM at Pine Trails Park.
Additionally, “6’s Nights” will be held for experienced players who want to try the new format before the season begins.
