The 2003 and 2007 Parkland Soccer Club boys’ teams have dominated the field all season long, ultimately winning their way to compete at the highest level in the Nations Cup in Colorado.
Making it to the Nations Cup is no small feat. Teams are determined by the birth years of the players and the Parkland Soccer Club boys’ teams qualified by competing and winning against teams in their league, the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL), which have a total of 26 girls’ and boys’ teams.
After winning their way through 100 boys’ teams in single-elimination round matchups, the 2003 team competed in and won the Florida Cup. The 2007 boys’ team was then invited and won the Southeastern regionals in Winston-Salem, NC., bringing both teams one step closer to their National Title goal.
Leading the charge for both teams was Coach Dumel Decius.
“It’s a great feeling when you’re coaching two teams that perform at the highest level,” said coach Decius. “I am very grateful to my family for the support, the parents, and to the entire parkland community.”
The Parkland Soccer Club, as a whole, had a very successful season. In fact, 2003, 2005, and 2007 boys’ teams all finished first in ECNL. The 2005 boys team just fell short in the Southeastern Regionals.
“I am extremely proud to see the teams compete on a national level, said Daniel Yibirin, 2007 team manager. “They kept training hard throughout and very challenging year dealing with Covid, and I’m proud of their hard work.”
The teams head to Colorado on July 16-21 for a chance to bring home the National Title.
