Silver Airways has announced the addition of a nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Gainesville Regional Airport.

Set to commence on August 21, 2023, the new service is part of the airline’s ongoing commitment to enhancing connectivity and convenience within the state, according to a press release by Silver Airways.

The introduction of this daily flight service is poised to benefit both business and leisure travelers who frequently navigate between these two cities. Silver Airways’ announcement has been met with considerable anticipation, given the growing demand for a direct and efficient connection between Fort Lauderdale and Gainesville.

Home to the University of Florida Gators — the largest and oldest university in the state, Gainesville draws in a diverse mix of students, academics, and researchers from across the globe. The new nonstop service aims to cater to this academic community while also encouraging further exploration of Gainesville’s local attractions and nature activities.

Allan Penksa, CEO of Gainesville Regional Airport, welcomed the announcement, stating, “A low-cost, nonstop route to and from FLL has long been requested by our University of Florida and business communities. We are delighted to announce this convenient route on Silver Airways is now available as one more Fly Easy option for our travelers.”

Steve Rossum, CEO of Silver Airways, added, “We are excited to return to GNV airport and further expand our route network with nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale and Gainesville. We look forward to serving Gainesville residents and visitors and the surrounding Alachua County community.”

To mark the launch of the new route, Silver Airways has rolled out a promotional offer with one-way fares starting at just $49.
