Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School is home to high-achieving students. Some of the most dedicated are leaders in the classroom and on the Eagles’ track and field team.
Cole Spinks, 16, a junior, has a 5.1 grade point average and is ranked in the top three percent of his class. He is dual enrolled at Broward College, taking advanced placement classes and enjoying studying precalculus. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Finance Club.
“I am interested in studying computer technology, and I like running the 800-meter and 1600-meter events,” said Spinks.
Another leading student-athlete is Matt Rosenberg. He has straight As and a 4.8 GPA, is taking advanced placement classes, and is a member of DECA. “I enjoy studying history,” he said.
A junior, Rosenberg is captain of the boy’s cross-country and track teams. Rosenberg competes in the 1600- and 3200-meter runs on the track team.
His coach, Mike Mauro, said, “Matt is a leader on the team and keeps everyone accountable.”
Naomi Grissette, 17, is a senior with a 4.7 GPA and co-president of the French Honor Society. She is a member of the Psychology Club and the Politics Club. She competed in the 4×100 relay and triple jump and was on the basketball team.
“I enjoy running, and I am interested in studying forensic science at the University of Central Florida,” she said.
Senior Mikayla Ryan, 17, has a 4.8 GPA and is studying advanced placement macroeconomics, literature, and biology. She is a member of the National English and National Science Honor Society and the National Honor Society. Ryan competes in the 4×100 relay and 3200-meter run.
Ryan is considering attending Florida State University or the University of Florida and is interested in Biology.
