Westglades Middle School in Parkland FL.
Aspiring young musicians have an exciting opportunity this summer at Westglades Middle School, which is hosting an Orchestra Summer Camp from June 9 to 12.
The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and is open to all rising 6th- 8th graders—even those who do not attend Westglades.
The camp costs $275, and students of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. The program offers two specialized tracks:
Beginners will have the chance to try out different orchestral instruments and learn the basics of music with expert clinicians.
Intermediate and advanced musicians will participate in an intensive week to improve their skills and learn new pieces.
The camp will conclude with a final concert on June 12 at 3 p.m., where students will showcase their progress and newfound talents.
Studies show that students who participate in orchestra programs achieve higher success in other academic areas, such as math and reading. Thus, this camp is not only a fun summer activity but also a valuable learning experience.
