Four students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas were recognized on Monday at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Coral Springs Hotel & Convention Center for their leadership skills.
Macy Meis, Morgan Goldman, Lauren Buchwald, and Abigail Melamed were all chosen as finalists. However, the $500 scholarship was awarded to Meis, the Senior Vice President, who was also part of the State Champion DECA team, where she won the Alex Schachter Memorial Scholarship award. Meis will attend the University of Florida.
Meis said it’s a true honor to be recognized as a Broward County Outstanding Senior Leader and to receive a scholarship award. “It was a humbling experience to be in a room with such extraordinary student leaders.”
Goldman is the student government president and a star on the field. She is committed to playing soccer at Alabama State University and has been a three-year MSD flag football team captain.
Buchwald is the senior class president and will attend Indiana University, and Melamed is the president of the National Honor Society and will attend the University of Florida.
