Parkland’s own Anthony Rizzo continues his incredible professional baseball career, setting a new milestone for the New York Yankees on Sunday.
Rizzo, a 2007 graduate of Marjory Stoneman Douglas, recorded his 1,500 career hit on Sunday with his 288th home run off his career for the only run in the Yankees’ 5-1 loss against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The powerful left-handed hitter is batting .300 this year with five home runs and has 11 RBIs. New York is set to continue their series on Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins.
