Solar eclipses have captured the human imagination for millennia. They’ve been the stuff of legends myths, and a testament to our unending curiosity about the universe. Now, locals have a chance to delve deeper into this astronomical marvel.
On Tuesday, October 10, at 6:00 p.m., the Parkland Library is hosting an exclusive solar eclipse informational session featuring Marjory Stoneman Douglas astronomy teacher Kyle Jeter.
Teens and adults will gain insights into the hows and whys of solar eclipses, preparing them for the upcoming partial solar eclipse in South Florida.
Special solar glasses will be provided for those interested in viewing the solar spectacle safely. But the celestial treats don’t end there. Attendees are also invited to return on Saturday for a chance to observe the partial solar eclipse through a telescope, making it a two-day event for the community to look up and marvel at the wonders of the sky.
Those interested in attending are required to register in advance. To ensure a spot, Parkland Library cardholders can register at www.cityofparkland.org/library or by calling 954-757-4207.
The Parkland Library is located at 6620 N University Drive.
