In a tribute to their late coach and cherished family member, Drew Wiener, the Parkland Flag Football League has announced the continuation of the Drew Wiener Memorial College Scholarships.
Now in its second year, the scholarship initiative, founded by the Wiener Family and former PFFL President Matt Kaufman, aims to honor Drew’s memory by financially supporting the league’s high school juniors and seniors.
Wiener left a lasting impact on the league and the lives of many young athletes before his passing in 2022. The scholarship program was established to recognize his dedication to his family and the league.
This year, the Wiener family, in conjunction with PFFL, will again award four deserving students $1,000 scholarships to aid their educational pursuits.
To be eligible for the Drew Wiener Memorial College Scholarship, students must be either juniors or seniors in high school, actively playing in the Parkland Flag Football League. As part of the application process, applicants must submit a video, up to five minutes in length, where they share their experiences and contributions to the league and the community.
The video should address the following questions:
- What has playing for Parkland Flag Football done for them?
- What have they done for Parkland Flag Football and the community to help the next generation of kids?
- What lessons and memories will they take from Parkland Flag Football when they graduate?
Videos, including highlights, pictures, or other creative elements, can be creative, serious, or humorous—the deadline to submit a video is November 1.
