Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through February 19, 2024.
Burglary
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 02/13/2024. The total estimated loss was $70. An unknown suspect pulled up next to the victim’s vehicle and broke into her vehicle, breaking the front passenger window and stealing the victim’s fanny pack that contained multiple items.
Information
A victim of Information was reported on 02/14/2024. The reporting person had an encounter with an unknown juvenile male. The unknown male was driving a burgundy Jeep with dark-tinted windows. He stated he was parked in the neighborhood waiting for another student because they were playing a game called Senior Assassination Day. The unknown male exited his vehicle and showed the reporting person the colorful water gun.
A victim of Information was reported on 02/15/2024. Deputies responded to a roundabout located in front of the community due to a child being located by himself. Deputies circulated the area searching for the parents and were flagged down by a bystander who had made a landline with the mother of the child. The child was returned home after a brief period.
A victim of Information was reported on 02/16/2024. A neighbor dispute over one particular neighbor causing grief to others was reported.
A victim of Information was reported on 02/19/2024. The complainant advised his 17-year-old daughter was being bullied online by a former friend of his daughter using disparaging social media posts. Contact was made with all parties.
Battery
A victim of Battery was reported on 02/17/2024. The total estimated loss was $4,000. The victim’s lime green Dodge Charger was hit by an unknown object while traveling eastbound. The victim exited the vehicle to investigate and found the suspects hiding in the bushes nearby. When the victim confronted them, all but one drove off on a westbound black golf cart, and one remained. The victim demanded the rest to return, which they did. One thing led to another where the victim grabbed onto the golf cart, and the suspects began to drive away with the victim still attached. The victim advised after being dragged while being kicked and punched, he fell off the back of the golf cart.
Theft
Bjs Wholesale was the victim of Theft – Retail / Shoplifting that was reported on 02/17/2024. A male suspect removed six bottles of liquor (Hennessy) worth $85 each.
A victim of Theft – All Other was reported on 02/16/2024. The total estimated loss was $46. The decal for a Florida tag was taken off of a 2023 Volkswagen Atlas.
