Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School {Parkland Talk}
Five Parkland schools have been named among the 43 Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) recognized as “Schools of Excellence” for the 2023/24 academic year by the Florida State Board of Education.
The distinction is awarded to schools that have ranked in the 80th percentile or higher in their grade calculation for at least two of the past three school years and showcase consistent academic excellence.
Parkland’s honorees include:
- Heron Heights Elementary School
- Park Trails Elementary School
- Riverglades Elementary School
- Westglades Middle School
- Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School
In a statement, BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn praised the recipients. “This prestigious recognition honors the hard work, talent, and perseverance of our remarkable students, supported by our dedicated teachers and staff. We are inspired by their achievement and look forward to even greater success in the future.”
The Schools of Excellence program, established in 2017 by the Florida Legislature, recognizes high-performing schools state-wide. Schools receiving this designation gain increased autonomy, additional funding opportunities, and priority in state funding allocations, allowing them to further invest in student success.
