The Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Parkland responded to various incidents between Aug. 11 and August 17, 2026.
Incidents
Found Property
On Aug. 11, deputies recovered an abandoned bicycle along the 6500 block of Nob Hill Road. The bicycle was taken to the Parkland District office for safekeeping.
Dog Bite Report
A delayed dog bite was reported to deputies on Aug. 11. The incident had occurred on Aug. 9 and was reported by a walk-in at the Parkland District station.
Westglades Middle School Incident
On Aug. 11, deputies completed a threat assessment involving a juvenile male at Westglades Middle School, 11000 Holmberg Road. The juvenile was subsequently arrested and transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
Church Fire
On Aug. 12, deputies responded to a reported fire at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, 5980 University Drive. According to the report, the only damage was to a light fixture.
Egg Thrown at Garage
On Aug. 13, a resident reported that a person wearing a ski mask threw an egg at his garage door from the passenger side of a moving white sedan. The egg allegedly stained the garage door, and the resident estimated professional cleaning and power washing would cost approximately $150. The resident told deputies he wanted to pursue charges if the suspect is identified.
Suspicious FPL Solicitor
On Aug. 13, a resident reported a suspicious encounter with a person claiming to work for FPL. The resident told deputies the individual came to her home to discuss FPL discounts and solar energy, asked to see her electric bill, photographed her air-conditioning units and electrical meter, and later requested her Social Security number.
The resident became suspicious and asked the person to leave, which he did. Deputies said no crime was established and advised the resident not to provide personal information or allow unknown solicitors into her home.
Cannabis Found During Traffic Stop
On Aug. 14, deputies assisting with a traffic stop reported smelling burnt cannabis and seeing cannabis in plain view. A subsequent search allegedly uncovered 144 grams of cannabis, including individually packaged baggies.
James Eugene Lindsey, 53, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis with intent to sell or deliver and possession of more than 20 grams of cannabis. He was transported to the BSO Main Jail.
Unwanted Messages Reported
On Aug. 15, deputies documented a report involving numerous unsolicited images and messages sent to an individual. The communications had previously been reported to the Broward County School Investigation Unit. The individual also reported receiving an isolated email referencing an alleged conspiracy and cover-up related to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. She was advised to contact law enforcement if the communications continued.
Driver Cited After Attempted Traffic Stop
On Aug. 15, a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle near University Drive and Holmberg Road for driving without headlights. The vehicle initially continued but was later located by Coral Springs Police in a parking garage.
According to the report, the Spanish-speaking driver said she did not realize deputies were attempting to stop her and was confused about the situation. She was cited for driving without lights and released.
More Eggs Thrown at Parkland Home
On Aug. 16, a resident reported that two people in a white Chevrolet Impala threw an egg onto his driveway and sped away. The resident told deputies that the same vehicle and individuals had thrown eggs earlier in the week, striking his garage and house and causing minor damage.
The latest egg landed on the driveway and caused no damage. Surveillance footage was provided to investigators.
Lost License Plate
A resident reported on Aug. 13 that the license plate was missing from her 2025 white BMW. She told deputies she had been running errands and believed the plate may have fallen off somewhere along the roadway.
Online Purchase Never Arrives
A resident reported paying $74.99 for merchandise from an online retailer but never receiving the purchase. According to the report, the company did not respond to the customer or her credit union regarding the disputed transaction. A police report was requested as part of the credit union’s investigation.
Arrests
James Eugene Lindsey, 53, was arrested Aug. 15 on a charge of possession of cannabis over 20 grams. The incident report also states he was arrested for possession with intent to sell or deliver.
A juvenile male was arrested Aug. 11 following a threat assessment at Westglades Middle School and transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
An additional warrant arrest was recorded Aug. 12, but the individual’s identifying information was redacted from the bulletin.
