A Parkland teenager and a juvenile girl were killed Saturday night in a crash involving a motorcycle and a car in Deerfield Beach, authorities said.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. Sept. 12 in the 4100 block of West Hillsboro Boulevard.
Traffic homicide detectives said an adult woman driving a 2017 Nissan Sentra was traveling east in the left-turn lane when she attempted a U-turn to head west.
As the Nissan turned, a westbound 2022 Suzuki motorcycle driven by Maxwell Patel, 18, of Parkland, struck the passenger side of the car, investigators said. The impact caused the Nissan to overturn.
Patel was pronounced dead at the scene.
Paramedics transported a juvenile girl who was riding in the Nissan to Broward Health Medical Center, where she later died. Her name was withheld under Marsy’s Law.
The Nissan’s driver and a juvenile male passenger were transported to Broward Health North. The boy was later airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center.
Three other Nissan passengers — two adults and another juvenile — were also taken to Broward Health Medical Center. The two surviving juveniles were listed in critical condition, according to BSO.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
