Former Marjory Stoneman Douglas lacrosse player Kevin Horowitz broke two school records while playing for Florida Southern College

The 2017 graduate came into Thursday’s game only ten ground balls away from setting the school record. He not only surpassed that mark of 319 previously held by Austin Alison; Horowitz also recorded a school-record 18 ground balls in the team’s 21-13 win over Belmont Abbey in North Carolina.

Horowitz says it is an awesome feeling to be recognized among all the terrific players at Florida Southern College but wants to make sure to give credit to his teammates.

“I don’t reach these milestones without my teammates and friends that I train with all offseason,” said Horowitz. “I cannot and won’t take all the credit for my success. Without those guys, I wouldn’t be in this position.”

While in high school, the Parkland native earned All-District Honors three times. He was also a Second-Team All-Region and First-Team All-Region twice and a two-time honorable mention All-American.

Horowitz has gone on to play 49 games in college and has recorded nine goals and 11 assists, and plays in his 50th game on February 26 against Flagler College at 2 p.m. Florida Southern College is currently 3-2.

Finishing his undergrad last spring, he is currently working on his master’s in business planning before graduating, where he expects to work alongside his father.
