Make Our Schools Safe hopes to surpass the $65,000 raised from their first Annual Golf Classic in 2021.

So far, according to Lori Kitaygorodsky, the communications director for the Parkland-based nonprofit, they’ve already raised approximately $40,000, with a goal of $75,000.

With the event fast approaching, Lori Alhadeff had three important takeaways.

“Have fun, further the MOSS mission and help make schools safer,” she added.

Lori and her husband, Ilan Alhadeff, launched the Parkland-based nonprofit in 2018 in honor of their daughter Alyssa – one of 17 killed during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas mass shooting.

The Parkland-based nonprofit is dedicated to honoring the lives of the victims of Parkland.

Lori said she was excited to continue spreading the Make Our Schools Safe mission at next month’s event.

“This event gives those in our community an opportunity to gather together, play golf, eat, drink, and support Make Our Schools Safe,” she said.

Alyssa’s Law was enacted to require silent panic alarms in public schools that will directly notify first responders and law enforcement in the event of an emergency.

Florida, New York, and New Jersey are the first states to mandate the law requiring silent alarms installed in public schools that directly notify first responders and law enforcement in the event of an emergency.

Formed following the Marjory Stoneman Douglas mass shooting, 16 Make Our Schools Safe Clubs have been organized.

Volunteer handbooks are available at Make Our Schools Safe while Alyssa’s Law awaits federal approval.

The Second Annual event is set for October 21, 2022, at the Country Club of Coral Springs. Only a few tickets remain for sponsorships, and golf packages for one or eight are available for purchase at Make Our Schools Safe.

Participants have an opportunity to win a $500 Visa gift card courtesy of the Hole In One sponsor Independence Title or win an E-Z-GO Golf Cart featuring a custom black/teal body and hand-stitched seats donated by Grace Solomon and refurbished from Carts 4 a Cause.
