Marjory Stoneman Douglas had a brief appearance in the postseason in basketball, with boys and girls falling in the opening round.
The boys basketball team came into the playoffs as the third seed after going 11-13 in the regular season but were upset in the first round by Deerfield Beach High School. The Eagles fell 55-52 in overtime, while it was also the final game for seniors Jaheen Smith, Ben Rothenberg, Jack Servaites, Marcus Thomas, Yousuf Sajil, Matthieu Thomas, Ethan Schwartzman, Rhendell Ducatel, and Blyfield Birch.
The girls basketball team had their season end on Monday following their loss against Deerfield Beach High School in the opening round of the District Quarterfinals. The Eagles came into the playoffs as the sixth seed after going 6-11 this year.
MSD will have three seniors graduate from their team this year: Stella Marvel, Muskaan Amin, and Maria Capra, but will return the rest of the team, including their two leading scorers, Madelyn Feldman and Izzy Feldman, who combined for 21 in their last game.
