Alex and Christian Rodriguez Highlight Big Summer With Commitment, Championship

It has been quite the summer for the Rodriguez family, with Alex Rodriguez earning another opportunity to play Division I baseball and his cousin Christian Rodriguez winning a summer league championship.

Alex officially announced his commitment to LSU New Orleans following a standout season at Pasco-Hernando State College. He helped Marjory Stoneman Douglas win four state championships and three national titles during his high school career. After appearing in 19 games as a freshman, Rodriguez developed into one of the Eagles’ top players over his final two seasons.

Batting leadoff, Alex finished his high school career with a .339 batting average while scoring 39 runs in both his junior and senior seasons. He also stole 79 bases during his career and hit his lone varsity home run in 2023 before beginning his collegiate career at the University of Central Florida.

After transferring to Pasco-Hernando State College, Alex enjoyed a breakout 2026 campaign. He earned All-Sun Lakes Conference Second Team honors and was selected to the conference All-Tournament Team after helping lead the Bobcats to a Region Championship and a berth in the NJCAA Division II World Series.

Alex batted .299 with seven home runs, including a pivotal three-run homer during the postseason. He also scored 83 runs and stole 18 bases, playing a key role in one of the program’s most successful seasons before announcing his commitment to LSU New Orleans. The Privateers won 24 games last season and have made nine NCAA Division I Regional appearances along with two trips to the College World Series.

Christian capped off his second straight summer with the Harwich Mariners by helping the team win a championship. He pitched 1.2 innings in the championship game and struck out three to help finish off the title run.

One of the nation’s top pitchers during his high school career, Christian helped lead Marjory Stoneman Douglas to three state championships and three national titles. He finished his high school career with a 29-2 record, a 1.19 ERA, 310 strikeouts in 168.2 innings, and also won a gold medal with Team USA. After missing his freshman season in college due to injury, Christian made 25 appearances for the Florida Gators over the past two years. He will continue his college career this season at Florida International University while Angel Rodriguez, Alex’s brother, will be playing college baseball at Eastern Florida State College.
