The Marjory Stoneman Douglas (MSD) High School boys’ bowling team competed in the state championship in Orlando on October 28 and 29.
Coach Mike Gregory was very proud of the team and the efforts they had made over the years. The Eagles earned second place at the district championship.
“Our team was phenomenal, and our boys bowled very well. I am very proud of everyone on the team,” said Gregory.
Of the 30 teams that participated in the state championship, MSD came in 15th, according to Gregory. The Eagles qualified for the semi-finals but were unable to reach the finals. “They really competed well as a team and did not let their emotions get to them. They showed great sportsmanship toward the other teams,” said Gregory.
Members of the team include Bryce Gregory, Angelo Ferrigno, Jason Zimbal, Hunter Woodruff, Dylan Miller, Connor Ogden, and Luke Munson. During the qualifying round, Bryce shot an 826 over four games, putting him in 34th place out of 199 state-level bowlers. Bryce is the team captain and the coach’s son.
“It has been much fun to coach my son. During the four years, there have been a lot of great memories,” said Mike.
