
Marjory Stoneman Douglas Girls Basketball Team. {Jayme Poulos}
The Marjory Stoneman Douglas girls basketball team turned the clock back and regained its form from a decade ago, starting the season 5-0 for the first time since 2016.
The Eagles began the season with a dominating 66-14 win over J.P. Taravella before following it up a day later against Charles W. Flanagan High School by 29 points. MSD then went on to score a season high 78 points, beating Deerfield Beach High School 78-12.
MSD had its biggest win in its last game against Coral Springs High School, a team that made a run in Regionals a season ago. The Eagles won 48-36 and then beat Coral Glades 61-8 consisting of a strong starting five of Maddie Feldman, Izzie Feldman, Hanna Hu, Joni Van Eck and Eversekai Benjamin.
Their team also features Addie Dunne, Sanji Singh, Tessa Morales, Gabi Pino, Isa Candela, Jada Cherenfant, Shay Cousins, Bri Rutecki, Jolie Gonzalez, and Amberlie Parra.
Next, MSD will play Mater Academy Charter on Friday, December 12 at 4 p.m. The Lions are 6-1 this year with their lone loss coming against Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart.
