Former Marjory Stoneman Douglas running back Khalil Herbert recorded his first rushing touchdown on Sunday with the Chicago Bears.
It came in the second quarter to give the Bears a 13-0 lead over the Arizona Cardinals. Herbert was making the start with running back D’Onta Foreman, who ran the ball 20 times for 111 yards while also adding a nine-yard reception in the team’s 27-16 win to move to 6-9 this year.
Herbert was a sixth-round draft pick in 2021 and had his breakout season with MSD when he ran for nearly 1,000 yards, scored 15 rushing touchdowns, and added another 264 yards through the air in 2014 before playing for Kansas and Virginia Tech in college. Herbert now has 459 yards this season and has 1,511 in his career.
The Bears will have two more games left in the regular season and will face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, December 31, at 1 p.m. before closing the regular season at Lambeau Field against the Green Bay Packers.
