The Marjory Stoneman Douglas girls lacrosse team had a historic season, reaching the State Final Four before falling to Plant High School 16-5 on Friday.
Head Coach Scott Iardella says he couldn’t be prouder of the girls for making school history.
“While we didn’t achieve the result we wanted at states, this was truly a magical year for Marjory Stoneman Douglas girls lacrosse, Iardella said. “What an honor it was to lead this team. I’m beyond proud of them.”
The Eagles won ten games in the regular season and then went on to win five more in the postseason, including a District and Regional Championship. MSD will have Gracyn Hayes, Taylor McGovern, Sofia Riley, Taylor Serbin, Maggie Davis, Lilly Shortz, Stephanie Bilsky, Addy Sacks, and Bre Rhodes all set to graduate.
Kaitlyn Irwin led the team in goals with 75, while McGovern and Resnick each scored over 65 goals. Caroline Lam, Stephanie Bilsky, Patrica Phang, and Haynes scored in double figures. Mary Devney, Taylor Serbin, Amanda Bilsky, and Sofia Riley combined for 10 goals, while Marissa Gallagher, Sacks, and Rhodes all shined in the net.
