The Marjory Stoneman Douglas girls’ lacrosse is starting to get national attention with a pair of players winning USA Lacrosse awards.
Taylor McGovern was named to the USA Lacrosse All-American Team after scoring 79 goals and recording 76 assists this past season. The junior scored 145 goals in her three-year varsity career and helped MSD make Regionals after the team went 12-5.
“It is such an honor being chosen as an All-American,” McGovern said. “I would like to thank my coaches and team at MSD for helping me gain confidence and helping me become the player I am today.”
Gracyn Haynes was selected to the All-American Academic Team. She shined in the classroom and on the field and was a lockdown defender, getting picked to the All District and All Regional Team as well.
“I work really hard in school and have put in a lot of effort to balance lacrosse and a rigorous academic schedule,” Haynes said. “Having received this award proved that my hard work has paid off and will motivate me to continue striving for success.”
Both players are set to return to the Eagles for their senior year and try to help MSD make regionals for a fifth straight season and make a run for a State Championship.
