Marjory Stoneman Douglas had a terrific winter sports season and was well-represented with conference awards.
Soccer
The boys soccer team featured a pair of players on the first team with Coby Alhadeff and Liam Ulinski. Alhadeff was a four-year starter with the Eagles and had four goals and six assists this season. Ulinski shined a defenseman to help MSD win a District Title and finish the season with 12 wins. Aquiles Yibirin was tabbed to the Second Team, while Juan Batista and Elan Jon Saranga were Honorable Mentions.
The girls soccer team had three players picked for the First Team. Ella Casagrande-Stevens, a University of Massachusetts Amherst signee, allowed 10 goals in 20 games and posted 12 shutouts. Taylor Le played midfielder and had two goals and five assists.
Laina Engelbart and Alexa Jourdan made the Second Team after the Eagles won their seventh straight District Title and finished the season with 12 wins. Sophia Dal Molin, Breanna Gordon, Audrey Haltiwanger, Courtney Heymach, Emma McGregor, and Emily Rodriguez were Honorable Mentions.
Basketball
The boys basketball team went 10-13 and was led by Ayden McClean. He was an Honorable Mention after leading the team with 18.7 points per game.
Wrestling
Rocco Duygulu and David Leiva were First-Team selections from the wrestling team. Leiva won the BCAA and District Championship before finishing third in regionals and seventh at state. He ended the year with a record of 48-6, while Jackson Zajkowski was an Honorable Mention after his run to the State Championship.
Parkland’s own Michael Mocco and Peter Mocco both had incredible seasons for Cardinal Gibbons High School, with Michael winning Wrestler of the Year and a State Championship for the third straight season. He was coming off his third straight District Championship and fourth Regional Title before competing at the State Championship. Peter was named to the First Team and came in second place after previously dominating in Disticts and placing second in Regionals. The two brothers finished the season 88-2
