Broward County Public Schools announced that 25 of its high school seniors have been named winners of the prestigious National Merit College-sponsored Scholarships, and four are from local schools.
This recognition comes from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which has selected these talented students to receive scholarships from sponsor colleges based on their exceptional academic records and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
The scholarship winners were chosen from among the finalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program who intend to pursue their undergraduate studies at the sponsoring institutions.
These awards, ranging from $500 to $2,000 annually, support the students for up to four years of their undergraduate journey, signifying a significant step forward in their academic careers.

The achievement of these students contributes to the total of approximately 3,800 College-sponsored National Merit Scholarship recipients in the 2023 competition, highlighting the national scope of this academic recognition.
With 153 higher education institutions underwriting Merit Scholarship awards, including 81 private and 72 public institutions across 42 states and the District of Columbia, the program exemplifies the collaborative effort between the education sector to foster academic achievement.
